Statly · Privacy Policy
In short: Statly counts your steps and estimates your sleep with your phone itself, and shows them with goals, streaks, badges and widgets. If you choose, it can also read data from a watch through Health Connect. All of this data stays on your phone. It is never uploaded to us, sold, shared, or used for advertising. There is no account and no advertising. The app sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, which never contain your health data. You can turn them off at any time in Settings.
1. Who we are
Statly is an Android app published by an independent developer ("we", "us"). Contact details are at the end of this policy.
2. Activity and sleep measured by your phone
With Android's "Physical activity" permission, Statly measures the following on your phone. It uses your phone's motion sensors and the on-device Recording API and Sleep API of Google Play services:
| Data | What Statly uses it for |
|---|---|
| Steps | Your daily step count, step goal, streaks, trends, badges and widgets |
| Brisk-walking minutes | Your active minutes |
| Sleep, estimated (bedtime, wake-up and duration) | Last night's sleep, sleep trends and sleep badges |
Distance and calories are estimates worked out from your steps and the optional height and weight you enter in Settings. Until you enter them, typical values are used.
This data is processed and stored only on your device. It is never uploaded to us or to anyone else. It is excluded from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer, and we have no way to see it. You can turn the permission off at any time in Android's settings. Statly then stops counting, and what it already stored stays on your phone until you clear it.
2b. Optional: data from your watch through Health Connect
Importing from a watch is optional; Statly works fully without it. If you choose "Import from your watch" in Settings, Statly uses Health Connect, Android's on-device store for health and fitness data. With your permission, Statly reads these types:
| Health Connect data type | What Statly uses it for |
|---|---|
| Steps | Your daily steps; a watch's count is used instead of the phone's on days it has data, never added to it |
| Distance | Distance badges, for example walking a marathon distance in a week |
| Floors climbed | Floor badges |
| Sleep (sessions and stages) | Last night's sleep, sleep stages, sleep trends and sleep badges |
| Heart rate | Heart rate summaries |
| Resting heart rate | Your resting heart rate and its trend, and the related badge |
| Exercise sessions | Your workouts and active minutes |
Statly may also ask for two optional Health Connect permissions:
- Access past data, so it can show history and streaks from before you started importing.
- Access data in the background, so its home-screen widgets can stay up to date.
You choose which types to allow, and you can change or remove access at any time in Health Connect's settings. Statly never writes, changes or deletes data in Health Connect. Imported data, and the results worked out from it, are processed and stored only on your device. Turning the import off deletes the imported copy from Statly.
3. How we use health data (Limited Use)
Everything below applies both to the activity and sleep your phone measures and to data imported from Health Connect. Statly's use of information received from Health Connect follows the Google Play policy for Android health permissions (Health Connect), including its Limited Use requirements. In particular, health data from Health Connect:
- is used only to provide the features you see in the app: today's view, trends, goals, streaks, badges and widgets;
- is never uploaded: it stays on your device;
- is never sold, and never transferred to anyone, including advertisers, data brokers and information resellers;
- is never used for advertising, and never used to determine credit-worthiness or for lending purposes;
- is never read by a human, and never used to train AI or machine-learning models.
4. Usage statistics and crash reports
To learn which features help, where people get stuck and why the app crashes, Statly uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics, both provided by Google. This is on by default. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → "Share anonymous usage stats".
These reports record what you do in the app, never your health data. Examples: that the Welcome screen was shown, that the Physical activity permission was allowed or declined, that a watch import was connected, that a badge was earned (only the badge's name), that the Pro screen was opened, or that a purchase succeeded or was cancelled. They never contain step counts, sleep times, heart rates, workouts, height, weight or any other health value.
Firebase also collects standard technical information: device model, Android version, app version, country, and a random app-instance identifier. Crash reports contain the technical state of the app when it crashed. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy and the Firebase privacy information.
5. Purchases
Statly Pro is sold through Google Play. Google handles the payment, and we never see your card or payment details. The app only learns whether you own Pro, so it can unlock it.
6. What we do not do
- No account or sign-in. We don't ask for your name, email or phone number.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No selling or sharing of personal data.
- No location tracking.
7. Keeping and deleting your data
Statly has no account, so there is no profile on our side to close. You can delete everything yourself, at any time:
- Your steps, sleep, badges and settings live only on your phone. Delete them by uninstalling Statly, or in Android Settings → Apps → Statly → Storage → Clear storage. If you import from a watch, the original data stays in Health Connect, which you control. Turning the import off deletes Statly's copy.
- Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports: in Statly, open Settings and turn off Share anonymous usage stats. This stops collection and resets the random app-instance identifier, so statistics already sent can no longer be linked to your phone. Google Analytics keeps usage statistics for up to 14 months, then deletes them automatically.
- Ask us: email abdulhady.aariyan@gmail.com with the subject "Statly data deletion request". We will reply within 30 days and delete any data we hold that can be linked to you.
8. Children
Statly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change how Statly handles data, we will update this page and its date before the change ships. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
